Overview

Temp Mail is a browser extension that generates disposable email addresses. This privacy policy explains what data the extension handles and how it is stored.

Data Collection

Temp Mail does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data.

The extension does not use analytics, tracking pixels, telemetry, or any form of data collection. No information about your usage is sent to our servers or any third party.

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. This includes:

• Generated email addresses and account credentials
• Received email messages
• Generated identity fields (name, username, password)
• Privacy settings and preferences (theme, auto-delete timer)
• Privacy statistics (emails created count, trackers blocked count)

All sensitive data (account credentials, messages, identity fields) is encrypted using AES-256-GCM with a per-installation encryption key derived via PBKDF2. Encryption keys never leave your device.

Third-Party Services

The extension communicates with the following external services:

• Mail.tm API (api.mail.tm) — to create disposable email accounts, fetch messages, and receive real-time updates. Mail.tm is a free disposable email service. Their privacy policy is available at mail.tm/en/privacy.
• Mercure Hub (mercure.mail.tm) — for real-time Server-Sent Events (SSE) message delivery from Mail.tm.

If you purchase a Pro upgrade, the extension also communicates with:

• Our payment worker — to process Stripe checkout sessions and verify license keys. Only the license key is transmitted; no personal or email data is sent.
• Stripe — payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers or billing details. Stripe's privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy.

Permissions

The extension requests the following browser permissions:

alarms	Periodic background tasks: message polling and license verification
notifications	Desktop alerts when new email arrives
activeTab	Access the current tab for form auto-fill (only when user clicks "Fill Page")
scripting	Execute the auto-fill script on the current page (only on user action)

Data Deletion

You can delete all extension data at any time by:

1. Using the auto-wipe setting to clear all data when you close your browser
2. Using the auto-delete timer to automatically remove emails after a set period
3. Right-clicking the extension icon → "Remove from Chrome" (deletes all stored data)
4. Going to Chrome Settings → Extensions → Temp Mail → "Remove"

Children's Privacy

Temp Mail is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the changes will be posted here with an updated date. The extension does not collect email addresses, so we cannot notify users directly — please check this page periodically.
